Looking After Yourself While Supporting Someone
At some point, people who are experiencing their own mental health challenges are often supporting someone close to them with their mental health too. It’s important to also look after yourself when you do. Some tips below for how you can keep it balanced:
- Learn about your loved one’s mental health condition
- Acceptance of how you feel
- Taking time out for yourself
- Creating boundaries
- Reach out for support through family, friends or a health professional.
