What do you love about nursing?

I love nursing as it is a profession where while helping people who are sick or injured you also get lots of personal rewards through hearing their stories. There is so much variety and everyday is different, it is truly a rewarding career.

What is a typical day like?

A typical day for me on the Orthopaedics ward starts with a central handover and then we go to bedside handover. After that I make up my planner and begin with doing my Obstetrics and Medication rounds. Then after that a shift will consist of either showers, ADL's (activities of daily living) for patients, rounding paperwork, or taking patients to or collecting from theatre. I do all my notes as I go during a shift and some days we have education sessions that we attend.

Currently, with the COVID-19 shifts have been different and we are all taking turns at doing screening on the hospital door, working in different wards or doing auditing.
