Keeping comfortable on a long flight

Keeping comfortable on a long flight

Long flights can be uncomfortable from time to time so here are some tips to make sure your journey to Australia is as smooth as possible.

Layer your clothing

The temperature on the plane can be tricky to get right for everyone. Some people become quite warm and other can find it a little cooler. We recommend you layer your clothing so you can feel as comfortable as possible. On the subject of clothing, wear loose and comfortable clothes but also consider the climate of the country you leave from verses the climate of Australia at the time of your arrival.

Keep hydrated and keep moving

Whilst you can't carry full bottles of water through security, there is plenty of water available within the airport and whilst on the plane. Keeping hydrated will keep you feeling good and help you to manage any jetlag on the other end.

It's also important to walk up and down the plane every now and then (when safe to do so) and move your legs. This can help to avoid Deep Vain Thrombosis (DVT). Some people also like to wear compression stockings to help avoid DVT.

Pack snacks

In most cases, your airline will provide you with a meal however you may wish to carry some of your favourite snacks with you on the trip over. Just be mindful of what you can and cannot bring into Australia - check out this information here.
