Connecting with your peers to collect their voice

Taking on the responsibility of a student representative means you have the obligation to collect the views and opinions of your peers and bring it to key Holmesglen governance bodies for discussion. Here are some tips and suggestions to get you started.

Work with your teachers to see if you can quickly chat with your classmates at the beginning or end of a class. Remember to keep it brief and concise to avoid cutting into too much class time.

Connect online with your peers via the online community. Encourage your peers to create accounts and join the Student Association Group to use the discussion tab.

Make sure you're known to your peers so they know who to approach with their concerns or opinions. You can do that by hosting introductory events, ensuring your profile on the community reflects your role, pinning posters on campus with your name and Holmesglen contact details and introducing yourself to your classmates and explaining your role.

Host feedback forums, providing your peers with an opportunity to discuss their view and opinions. This is also a great opportunity for you to report back to the student body.

Survey your peers on certain topics to gather quantitative and qualitative data. This is great research to include in any reports submitted to Holmesglen.
