Nisura Balasooriya

Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics

Hello everyone! My name is Nisura Balasooriya. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics. I like the construction industry because it gives me the ability to work outside at the construction sites as well as in the indoor office environment. Additionally, the industry is full of knowledgeable tradespeople who are usually happy to give insight into their particular craft. The knowledge that these trade professionals have is priceless. The construction industry gives me many opportunities to meet a diverse group of individuals and allows me the use of a multitude of different equipment, tools and machinery. Holmesglen has given me the opportunity to study in an industry-recognised institute that offers small class learning, which enables the students and the lecturers to be more engaged and collaborative with each other. The facilities that Holmesglen has to offer as well as the student community from all around the world, makes the student experience more exciting. As a student representative, I hope to be the voice and the bridge which connects Holmesglen students and the administrators to make the student learning experiences run smoothly, fulfilling each and every one of the student needs and requirements.

You can contact me by emailing nbalasooriy@student.holmesglen.edu.au

Alvin Adyco

The idea of working in an IT environment while also getting the basic knowledge of business has attracted me to Holmesglen. Sophie Broughton

Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance of Nutrition and Dietetics

Hi! I am Sophie. I am in the 2nd year study of Allied Health Assistance of Nutrition and Dietetics at Holmesglen's Glen Waverley campus.  It was my passion for Nutrition that drove me into this course.  I am soaking up as much knowledge as I could from the course, hoping I could help as many people as I can to realize eating a balanced nutritional diet is the starting point that gives us good health.  I am impressed with the teachers, as they all had their real experiences in the field that makes the course very practical.

My aim as a student representative is to act like an effective feedback channel for the course we are studying between the students and the teachers. Especially, voicing the needs of matured age students.

I am also bilingual; I speak and write Chinese. I guess I can use this skill in contributing to the student council as well.

I am excited to be part of the Student Council. Hope I can contribute as much as I can for the students’ experiences in Holmesglen.

My name is Tanya Gupta and I am a diploma of nursing student. I chose nursing as my career path because I have always enjoyed helping people. Nursing is one of the most respected professions. I love chatting with them, being around them, and taking care of them—it is very fulfilling to my soul.

My experience at Holmesglen has been wonderful. Holmesglen is committed to ensuring an exceptional study experience, including the availability of a wide range of support services across all campuses. Bianca Gold

Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architecture)

I commenced a photography course a number of years ago at a different campus and faced some really difficult issues. Unfortunately, I didn't make the most of the support services Holmesglen had to offer and ended up withdrawing.

Coming back to study during a pandemic may not be for everyone, but Holmesglen has a fantastic reputation in industry, and I have made the most of the amazing support staff within the Holmesglen team. I have recently joined the SRC in the hope to help other students find the support that Holmesglen has to offer if needed.

It is harder to get to know classmates remotely and even harder to network from course to course so hopefully as a Student Rep I can help students make the most of their time at Holmesglen and everything the team has to offer.

Embarking on the Holmesglen experience I have a goal to design niche, luxurious, sustainable healthcare and accessible residential pods. From that statement you may realise I am passionate about access for all students. Although I have many other interests and look forward to meeting and getting to know students and staff across a number of departments.

Feel free to contact me anytime with ideas, constructive feedback, and questions on how to get the most out of your time at Holmesglen.
