Holmesglen's Orientation Programs

Your Student Rep Council have made a series of recommendations to improve Holmesglen's orientation programs.

Here is our update and response to these recommendations: 

• Orientation sessions to be recorded for those who may miss the sessions. 
• Orientation communication should be reviewed to ensure it reaches students in a timely manner.
• Students should receive an information or starter pack prior to or during orientation.
• Students should be consulted when developing strategies relating to orientation practices.
• Current students should participate in the delivery of orientation to new students.
• Teachers should take ownership and provide orientation information to students who miss this session. 
• In addition to the orientation programs, our support services and communications team continue to refine how we

We hear you and agree with your feedback. For this reason, Holmesglen has established a working group to review the way in which we orientate our students and support you to feel confident whilst studying. This working group will involve student consultation to ensure our strategies continue to meet your needs. As we finalise these strategies, we will continue to update our student community. 

• The Holmesglen app should continued to be used as a tool to host orientation information. 
• The Student Handbook requires review to ensure information is relevant. 
• Orientation is currently delivered to difference cohorts via different strategies. This should continue.
• The institute should consider the information provided during orientation and whether this information should be revisited throughout the semester. 

Status Update - Completed 

This is excellent feedback and it's great to hear that some of our current practices and strategies are working. We continue to host a range of resources within the Holmesglen app to support the student orientation process. You'll be pleased to note that the Student Handbook has been reviewed and updated to ensure it reflects current and relevant information. This handbook is circulated to students upon enrolment at Holmesglen. We also agree orientation should be contextulised to our various student cohorts, so for this reason, we will continue to deliver orientation in this manner.
