If you are suffering from hardship, mental health issues, disability or addiction, you may be able to work off your fines by participating in unpaid work, a course, counselling (incl, financial) or a mentor program (under 25 years). The Work & Development Permit (WDP) scheme can provide you with a non-financial option to address your fine debt.

Am I eligible for WDP?
You are eligible for a WDP if you:
- have a mental or intellectual disability, disorder or illness
- have an addiction to drugs, alcohol or a volatile sustance
- are experiencing homelessness
- are a victim of family violence or
- are experiencing acute financial hardship
What activities can I do to reduce my fines?
- unpaid work
- treatment given by a doctor, nurse or psychologist
- courses - including educational, vocational or life skills courses
- counselling, including financial counselling
- drug or alcohol counselling
- mentoring (if you are under 25 years of age)
