Managing Your Child’s Transition Back to School!

If you are a parent of a child who’s returning to on-site learning, you may be feeling apprehensive. Many children may have enjoyed online learning and feeling anxious about returning to school. In Victoria, today (09/06/2020) all school children from Prep to Year 12 are in the classroom.

Here are some strategies to help manage the transition:

  1. Avoid oversharing with your children, e.g. shield them from your worries
  2. Discuss plans as early as possible
  3. Get back into the usual routine
  4. Highlight positives of returning to the school grounds
  5. Provide positive reinforcement of how confident you feel about them
  6. Regularly checking up on them
  7. Know that the staff are there to help including the school wellbeing team
