Lessons from Lockdown

Things we have learnt in lockdown….

  • It’s okay to be scared and frustrated. It’s important to know that you are not alone. There is power in community and we are all in this together.
  • You are stronger than you think. Adversity and hard times force us to grow and evolve including building resilience and tapping into our inner resources and networks such as local communities and schools.
  • Its ok to slow down. This has all forced us to slow down instead of running on auto pilot. You don’t need to be productive at every second on the day. Don’t feel bad for taking time to relax, reflect or do something fun. There is power in self-care.
  • Help others and check in on them. We are all more vulnerable than ever before and may need a little help. It is important to maintain our connections and assist others during this challenging time.
  • Live in the now. Being present in the now starts with self-awareness which may be helpful with mindfulness and meditation techniques. Take the time to check in on yourself and how you are doing.
  • Be grateful. Focus on what is going well, rather than what isn’t. This can help create a positive mindset which leads to better sleep, focus and outlook. Try starting a gratitude journal.
