Looking for a worthwhile project for this long weekend? Our friends at the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley support an Australia-wide project called ‘Wheelchairs for Kids’ in making and shipping 300+ wheelchairs each month to disadvantaged children who need them all around the world.

Included with every wheelchair is a knitted or crochet rug, and a small soft knitted toy. These are special gifts for the children who receive these wheelchairs, and are often very meaningful.

If you are handy with knitting or crochet, please consider helping by using your excess yarn to make a rug or toy. Preferred material: 8-ply acrylic yarn (easy to wash). Rugs are approximately 1m x 1m, toys about 15 centimetres.

For further details, including where to send rugs and toys you've made, please contact Michele Oscar at the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley, 0449 500 659.
