Prepare for a student rep interview

4 simple tips 

 

If you have expressed your interest to become a Holmesglen student representative, you may have been invited to interview for the role.

Below are some tips to assist you to successfully prepare for your interview: 

 

1. Read the student rep position description thoroughly 

You can view the position description here. It's important that you feel comfortable and familiar with this document and pay particular interest to the key selection criteria. 

 

2. Prepare some examples 

In responding to interview questions, we recommend you take the STAR approach. Preparing some examples ahead of time for potential questions will help you remain focused during the interview. This is where that position description comes in really handy! 

 

3. Treat this as you would a job interview 

Whether the interview is face to face or remote, it's important to look professional. Ensure you're wearing clean and professional clothing. If the interview is remote, prepare your technology in advance and ensure you've located yourself in a quite and private area. If the interview is face to face, arrive a little earlier to ensure you feel calm and confident before your interview. 

 

4. Ensure you are prepared to attend all student rep meetings. 

Make sure you don't go through the application and interview process only to find out that you can't attend the meetings. For this reason, student council meeting dates are published in advance
