Referencing Quick Tips

jogreg Holmesglen Staff • 13 August 2019

# 1  Keep track of sources while researching.  If you don’t, precious time will be wasted later re-tracing your steps.

# 2  Remember to reference in two places: In-text and in the Reference list.

# 3  If there is no human author for your source, then use the organization’s name.

# 4  Use the author’s surname (not first name initial) in in-text citations

Never fear, End (Note) is here...

A tech solution...Endnote online enables you to store your references. Then by using a plugin app for Word you can insert citations into the text of your assignment and automatically create a reference list.

Librarians can help with Endnote. Book a session here:

@ Moorabbin Library staff run classes on Tuesday and Thursday 2.30 -3.30 for Endnote, referencing in APA  and research for assignments until October 31st.

Please let Library staff know if you would like to attend one of these sessions

Or if you have any referencing questions you can post them in the community.

Don't forget Learning Skills help is also available in the Library at Chadstone campus on Saturdays for all students from 12.00 -3.00 p.m.
