Explore Being My Own Boss workshops and the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme program are free help programs to help people start a new business. These are fully funded by Dept. Education Skills & Employment.
"Explore" Workshops are about finding out all the things you may need to consider, and you don't necessarily have to be starting a business soon, so you can do this in advance of graduating or just after.
The slightly longer NEIS program helps you design the business and get totally organised with a business plan and comes with mentoring in year 1, and may also have a special payment of NEIS Allowance (not a grant) that is applicable which is not income tested by Centrelink when you start up in the first 9 months of trading. This one is done if you want to start a business within say, the next 3 or 4 months.
You can participate in both if eligible.
Holmesglen NEIS Department run programs commencing once or twice a month, and help over 300 businesses start each year through Holmesglen.
If you think you may want to start a business, call us on 1300 634 748 to enquire and see about applying.
