Speak Up - Metro and Regional Youth Positions Available
Volunteer position
Position Description of Vacancy:
- Looking for people aged 16-30 from refugee or migrant backgrounds to co-design and deliver new program Speak Up, which will be designed to promote gender equity among multicultural young people in Victoria.
- Benefits include giving back to the community.
- Extensive online and in person training around leadership, project management, co-design, facilitation, self-care, gender equity, cultural responsiveness, intersectionality and prevention of violence against women.
- An honorary payment to recognise the youth volunteer's value and contribution and cover costs incurred in this role.
- Facilitated weekly (or as needed) co-design meetings (both in-person and online) with a fully catered nourished dinner when meeting face to face.
- Administrative support and professional development opportunities.
Who can apply?
Young people aged 16-30 who:
- Have a refugee or migrant background (including young people born in Australia with parents/carers with a refugee/migrant experience.)
- Able to attend Speak Up meetings on a regular basis (weekly or fortnightly 2 hours online/in-person).
- Commitment to addressing and advocating for gender equity, especially within refugee and migrant experiences.
- Willingness to consult with wide numbers and young people and key stakeholders.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to provide feedback.
