Disability Support Worker

 

Salary/Benefits: $30 - $35 per hour + Super

Hours: Casual, min of 4 hours - Max of 12 hours per week.

Location: South East Melbourne and Mornington Peninsula, VIC

 

Position Description of Vacancy:

- Certificate level in Disability, Aged Care, Child Care or equivalent qualification or willingness to obtain. 
- Must be enrolled/graduate in any Disability courses.
- Driver's License and vehicle required.
- On the job training and placement opportunities offered. 
- Second Home exists to help people with a disability to enjoy a happy and healthy holiday. Guests are encouraged to take part in tailoring their holiday experiences and participate in those activities within local communities. 
- The Disability Support Worker's roles exists to ensure the support delivery to enable people with disabilities to enjoy happy and healthy holidays. 
- Responsibilities include personal hygiene assistance:

  • Washing hands after going to the toilet.
  • Bathing/showering
  • Brushing teeth
  • Getting dressed

- Mobility support requirements include:

  • Assisting guests to use mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walking sticks, walking frames etc.
  • Assisting guests with mobility aids such as splints, braces, shower chairs etc.
  • Assisting guest to navigate ramps, stairs etc.
  • Transportation

- Shopping tasks include:

  • Escorted Shopping Trips, escorting guests on local trips to supermarkets, cafes, restaurants etc.
  • Unescorted Shopping Trips, performing shopping tasks on behalf of guests. 

- Housekeeing tasks include:

  • Meal preparation, cooking and tidying up.
  • Cleaning rooms
  • Vacuuming, mopping and sweeping.
  • Making beds/replacing bedding
  • Notifying the house manager of any required maintenance. 

- Second Home may require you to carry out other duties as directed that are commensurate with the skills and competencies of the classification level.
- National Police Clearance Certificate (no older than three months). 
- NDIS Screening Check
- COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate / Booster Shot / Flu Vaccination.
- Right-to-work check
- Working with Children's Check
- CPR and First Aid Certificate (no older than 12 months).
- Must be enrolled in any Disability course (for students wanting to apply).
- Must be flexible and willing to travel to different respite houses located in the Southeast of Melbourne and Mornington Peninsula Areas.
